Key Highlights
Scope
One of the largest projects that I have delivered to date, this project was a comprehensive £30 million refurbishment of Villa Park’s hospitality suites. Among the most notable highlights of this fit-out with Aston Villa FC’s home ground was the transformation of outdated hospitality boxes into 6 premium bars and lounges across multiple stands.
Each designed to offer a unique and luxurious experience matchday experience for Aston Villa FC fans and common patrons alike, these new venues included the Chairman’s Suite, Legends Lounge, The 150 Club, Villains, The Aston, and The Oak Room.
Special Features
Speaking of, The Oak Room is a fine dining establishment that features a suite of fairly superb champagne receptions, curated menus, and impressively elegant interiors. For guests who are keen on dining out during matchday, The Oak Room was created to provide them with a highly upscale and exclusive experience. However, for Aston Villa FC fans who want to bask in their favourite team’s heritage and legacy, there’s The 150 Club and the Legends Lounge.
The 150 Club celebrates Aston Villa’s rich history, offering a pretty sophisticated environment with lots of memorabilia and bespoke furnishings. On the other hand, the Legends Lounge is a special place where fans and guests can drop by to honour club legends. This space is made to combine modern and contemporary design but is filled to the brim with tributes to the club’s most iconic players, creating a massively immersive atmosphere for fans.
Challenges
Naturally, for such a prestigious and high-profile project like this, refurbishing Villa Park had a bevvy of distinct challenges, such as:
- Performing construction works in a live environment, particularly with an operational stadium, which required meticulous planning to minimise disruptions during matchdays and events.
- Coordinating daily operations amidst ongoing stadium activities presented tonnes of logistical constraints, so strategic scheduling and collaboration were a must to ensure that we would get timely delivery of materials.
- Working closely with club officials and owners to align this project with Aston Villa’s vision for improving the experience for their fans, as well as refurbishing the Park’s hospitality services.
Result
As daunting as this project was, it was successfully completed on time and within budget, and it helped to elevate Villa Park’s hospitality offerings to match Premier League standards. Its new bars and lounges, among other improvements to Villa Park’s hospitality suites, have been well-received, further improving matchday experiences, and engagement with fans, and it also aided in contributing to increased revenue streams for the club.

Responsibilities
As the construction manager for the comprehensive hospitality fit-out of Villa Park for Aston Villa FC, some of my responsibilities included:
- Overseeing the £30 million hospitality fit-out, while also ensuring that all phases were done on time and that it could meet the club’s high standards.
- Managing daily operations, safety protocols, and specialist teams to deliver the project within the agreed timeframe and budget.
- Collaborating with Aston Villa’s management, owners, and other stakeholders to be sure that the new facilities and hospitality suites aligned with their vision for the project.
- Ensuring high-quality finishes and craftsmanship in all the hospitality areas, reflecting the club and their commitment to providing a premium service for its patrons and fans.
