Key Highlights

Scope

As one of the site managers for this unprecedented undertaking and prestigious project, I was responsible for managing some of the snagging and finishing works within the indoor stadium section of Leicester City Football Club’s state-of-the-art training complex. Its indoor stadium, a domed structure housing a full-size artificial pitch, is the centrepiece of the club’s many cutting-edge facilities.

Special Features

Undoubtedly the highlight of this project for Leicester City FC and their new training complex is definitely the indoor pitch. I helped to deliver high-quality finishes, providing good functionality and aesthetic appeal that met the club’s high standards. Aside from that, I further oversaw the completion of amenities and other high-end interior features integral to the training complex.

Speaking of, that included new medical suites, changing rooms, and training spaces tailored to professional athletes. Elsewhere, the project also demanded that the training grounds meet the necessary seismic compliance and regulations. As such, I had to comply with a set of advanced engineering requirements, particularly when constructing the stadium’s signature dome.

Challenges

Given the huge scale of the project and the high-profile clients involved, the fit-out of Leicester City Football Club’s state-of-the-art training complex presented a vast array of challenges, like:

  1. Managing the identification and resolution of problems during the finishing stages, as well as maintaining high standards during the project.
  2. Working closely with architects, project managers, and club representatives to align the entire finished project with the client’s vision.
  3. Keeping momentum high during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic by implementing stringent health and safety protocols, and adapting the working environment accordingly.

Result

The cutting-edge and high-tech Leicester City Football Club training complex was completed successfully, on time and within budget, with the club hosting their first training session in the facility on December 24th, 2020. I was happy that I helped to ensure that the indoor stadium, with its premium finishes and state-of-the-art amenities, reflected the new facility’s status as one of Europe’s most advanced sports complexes.
